Did you know that the Children’s Media Association (CMA) is an entirely volunteer-run organization. We’re looking for several awesome volunteers to help us and support the national Board as well as our NY, LA, and Bay Area chapters. As all events, meetings, and activities currently are running virtually, we welcome anyone interested in volunteering regardless of location. We want YOU to join CMA!

Director of Events

Reporting to and in partnership with the President, the Director of Events oversees the strategic planning and production of CMA events across a wide breadth of children’s media channels. Primary focus includes managing a team of dedicated volunteer event coordinators as well as building and maintaining relationships with innovative industry partners and venues. The Director works closely with regional Event Directors, CMA Officers and partners to lead the development of member-centered events within scope, schedule and budget.


  • Oversee the overall direction and vision of CMA events
  • Produce and manage 4-8 virtual events per year
  • Manage a team of Event Coordinators, at the discretion of the President and Vice President
  • Assist regional Event Directors as needed
  • Manage event calendar
  • Work with CMA partners and sponsors in the production of special events
  • Coordinate with the marketing team on event outreach
  • Attend meetings of the board, committees, committee chairs and planning sessions as required

Director of Digital

Reporting to and in partnership with the President,, the Digital Content Director will spearhead all content-related productions in collaboration with the Events and Marketing Directors. The Digital Content Director will lead a team to manage and expand upon the digital content offerings for CMA National,, its chapters and prospective digital members, including but not limited to the CMA web, page, blog,, YouTube,, and social channels. 


  • Manage volunteer coordinators to execute web content, livestream production, video capture and edit,, and blogs 
  • Manage all web page content 
  • Produce event livestream with single and dual feeds 
  • Oversee event video capture,, edit and upload for public and exclusive content 
  • Establish content management best practices for YouTube channel, including naming conventions and description for search engine optimization 
  • Maintain editorial direction and handle tech support on CMA WordPress blog 
  • Act as liaison with Memberclicks,, to troubleshoot issues that arise
  • Provide technical support with domain name servers, and administrate CMA’s Google Apps / G Suite account 
  • Train other Officers and Coordinators on CMA’s apps, website, and other systems as needed 
  • Attend meetings of the board, committees, committee chairs and planning sessions as required 

Director of Engagement

This position will be responsible for recruiting volunteers and managing the CMA volunteer database. The Director of Engagement will also be in charge of volunteer benefits: finding low-cost ways to reward our hard working volunteers, and maintaining volunteer retention.  

Director of Growth

This position will be responsible for the collection of data that will enable CMA to make decisions moving forward (ex: member enrollment, retention, marketing performance %, etc.).\

Co-Director of Events

The Director of Events plans, organizes, and facilitates Children’s Media Association events including: networking opportunities, panels, seminars, experiences, conferences, and services in accordance with the mission of the organization. 


  • Oversee the production of CMA LA events
  • Manage events team (event coordinators etc)
  • Schedule and maintain communication with speaker(s), vendors, and event participants as needed
  • Oversee partner event agreements as well as venue contracts and payments
  • Manage event budget with Treasurer 
  • In preparation for each event, write event description and promotional language as per the Event Planning Worksheet
  • Oversee the execution of event logistics (e.g., volunteers, registration, check-in)
  • Manage event staff (photographer, live social, camera person) 
  • Attend general CMA and Events Department meetings as scheduled
  • Represent CMA in public relations/liaison capacity on matters relating to the organization at events

Are you based in the Bay Area with networks connecting you to the tech sector and the work it is doing for kids and families? Then you might just be the right person to serve as the Bay Area chapter’s third President! 

The chapter President supervises the general affairs of CMA Bay Area and works closely with the National President and the CMA-BA Chapter Board of Officers to set and meet organizational goals. Serving as the face of the CMA BA chapter, the President maintains and leads the development of new chapter programming, local event sponsorships, and the development of the chapter leadership. 


  • Develop chapter-wide goals and objectives
  • Coach and manage Chapter Officer Board  
  • Serve as the face of CMA-BA, communicating our mission, offerings, and accomplishments to the local community
  • Advocate for a rewarding volunteer, member and partner experience in the Bay Area
  • Actively engage in fundraising, working closely with National and Chapter Officers to identify, recruit and meet the needs of event partners
  • Oversee the development and approval of chapter budgets
  • Track and evaluate chapter performance, communicating progress on CMA’s program offerings, organizational management and internal infrastructure to the National President and Board of Directors 
  • Set the agenda and preside at all meetings of the Chapter Board
  • Support and participate in CMA-BA events and activities
