New and Emerging Technologies in Children’s Media

As technology continues to evolve and progress, there are increasing numbers of platforms to create and distribute great content for kids. Join us for Emerging Technologies – a panel conversation with leaders in the children’s media world who are pushing the boundaries of traditional content with emerging platforms like augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, and voice recognition, and bringing new perspectives to kids. We’re excited to welcome Joey Egger (Two Moos), Makeda Mays Green (Nickelodeon), Andrea Palumbos (Sesame Workshop), and Kurt Young (Mokuni LLC) to our panel to discuss trends and work.
About our Speakers
Joey is an Emmy, Webby and Peabody award-winning executive producer who loves creating innovative, engaging and educational digital experiences for kids around the world, including the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) and Sesame Workshop. Joey and the Two Moos crew have a deep understanding of technology, creative development and game design for preschool and youth audiences.
Makeda Mays Green (Moderator) is Vice President, Digital Consumer Insights at Nickelodeon. In this capacity, she conducts research across digital platforms, including mobile devices, game consoles and emerging technologies. Prior to her role at Nickelodeon, Makeda worked as the Director of Education and Research, Digital Media at Sesame Workshop (the creators of Sesame Street). She is the author of Makeda: Moving Up in Media, an autobiographical short that details her journey into the children’s media industry, and she is the proud mother of three young children.
Andrea Palumbos is a Senior Producer at Sesame Workshop. She is a 2x Emmy Award winner, and 4x Emmy-nominated producer for her work telling stories via video, audio and interactive content for adults and kids. In her current role, she produces linear and interactive content for new IP’s produced by Sesame Workshop including, Esme & Roy recently launched on HBO. Additionally, she is responsible for content strategy and production of digital platforms for Sesame Street’s international co-productions; expanding their mobile reach to underserved communities across the globe. She joined Sesame Workshop in 2008 as a creative producer for The Electric Company. She spent the early part of her career working in digital and video production at TV Land and Nickelodeon. On the side Andrea cuts hair, performs improv and storytelling, and launched her own podcast, Sunday Salon, hosting insightful conversations with funny women that offer a light-hearted take on personal growth.
Kurt Young is the founder and CEO of Mokuni LLC, which is a New York based gaming company producing video games and also utilizing VR/AR since 2013. Their games “Kitty in the Box” has been featured on major platforms including the App Store, Google Play, Amazon and Microsoft Store, and has received tens of millions of downloads. Kurt is an advisory board member at Games for Change, and he has been collaborating with neuroscientists to create games for mental wellness. Kurt holds a MFA in Computer Art degree from the School of Visual Arts. Prior to founding Mokuni, he has worked professionally in Shanghai.
