APAC 101

Content that travels is the new north star as we see global hits hailing from all around the world. Our Asia Pacific series is geared to inform and create a greater awareness and understanding of the region, especially through the lens of entertainment and franchise development. In collaboration with CMA Mentor, Don Anderson, we are developing a series of conversation where we will share the market size, the companies with a focus on the kids & family space in Asia Pacific region, and the cultural nuances that inform and shape APAC original content.

In our first panel, APAC 101, we will share perspectives on past and current kids and family content interests and trends in key markets, including the influence of anime, digital access and education aiming to give you a broad understanding of the opportunity the APAC region presents.

Suzie Domnick, CMA President and Don Anderson, CEO of Kaddadle will be joined by Ryan Lee, Co-founder & EVP at The Pinkfong Company and Kee Yong Pin, Co-Founders and the Chief Operating Officer of Monsta.

Kee Yong Pin, Co-Founders and the Chief Operating Officer  Monsta (Malaysia)

Kee Yong Pin is one of the Co-Founders and the Chief Operating Officer of Monsta. Under his role, he oversees day-to-day operations and business development of Monsta.

He leads the strategy for market expansion in bringing Monsta’s content (BoBoiBoy, Mechamato & Papa Pipi) to wider global reach. His main task is to establish and secure new business partnerships. He also supervises the growth of Monsta Digital Network.

Under his supervision, Monsta’s content has reached to more than 80 countries around the world; Monsta Digital Network has 20 Million Subscribers and garnered more than 10 Billion views to date.

His latest addition under his portfolio is to lead the division that will build and develop the immersive experiences of Monsta IPs in the metaverse.

Ryan Seungkyu Lee, Co-founder & Executive Vice President at The Pinkfong Company

Ryan Lee is the Co-founder and Executive Vice President of The Pinkfong Company, the global entertainment company creating original content across children’s education, games and animation with its beloved children’s brand, Pinkfong.

Committed to providing creative and fun learning experiences for children around the world, The Pinkfong Company has produced more than 5,000 songs and stories including its well-known ‘Baby Shark’ video, the most-watched YouTube video with over 10 billion views. Our passion to develop entertaining and creative content runs through Pinkfong, one of the most influential brands for kids with its award-winning mobile app series achieving 400 million downloads across 164 countries to date. 

With extensive knowledge and experience in the content industry, Ryan specializes in developing business strategies, monetizing business plans, and building strong business relations.

Upon graduating from university, Ryan joined Nexon, an international game publisher. He pioneered the free-to-play and micro-money transaction system of the games, expanding licenses of the games and characters to other businesses. After co-founding The Pinkfong Company, he has been leading global business strategies and market development of its company, successfully raising vital funds for the business.

Don Anderson, CEO & Founder, Kaddadle

With more than 25 years in the media and entertainment space, Don previously served as Head of Family & Learning Partnerships at YouTube APAC, overseeing the platform’s partnerships in the region and working with the region’s top children’s entertainment and learning creators including broadcasters, animation studios, independent producers and leading toy brands and learning institutions.

Don was also responsible for leading the launch of YouTube Kids, the world’s leading video app and site, in more than 16 markets in Asia. Don also led YouTube APAC Premium and Music Subscriptions Marketing, overseeing a diverse team of regional and local growth specialists, and has held senior leadership roles at Cartoon Network, CNN, ESPN STAR Sports, We Are Social and FleishmanHillard over the past 15 years.

A native Canadian and former journalist and teacher, Don holds an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, a BA in Journalism from Ryerson University, new media certification from the Canadian Film Centre and is currently pursing a Master of Guidance and Counselling at James Cook University.

Don actively serves in the community, and is Founder of the Asia Metaverse Society, Chair and Co-founder of the AsiaVR Association and Co-founder of the Asia Content Marketing Association.
