Laura Zimmermann, Ph.D has a passion for supporting early learning by bringing insights from the learning sciences, child development, and media research to the creation of products and implementation of programs for children and the adults who support them. As the Founder and President of Tech Play Collaborative and Research Fellow at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Laura supports positive child outcomes through research partnerships with content creators, technologists, educators, policymakers, and other researchers.
Over the past 10+ years she has partnered with clients developing educational media for kids and organizations focused on supporting early learning. Her research has been presented at national and international conferences. Her work has been disseminated in scholarly and lay publications. She is frequently invited to speak about the intersection of child development and technology at forums such as The Atlantic Festival and the Erikson Institute.
Previously, Laura worked at a leading education consulting institute where she drove formative and summative research projects. She was an Institute of Education Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Child’s Play, Learning, and Development Lab at the University of Delaware. Laura received her Ph.D. in Psychology at Georgetown University with a concentration in Human Development and Public Policy. In her free time she loves going for walks with her husband and dog along with honing her photography skills.
