Elizabeth Rood (she/her) is thrilled to help to connect the dots, as National Vice President of the Children’s Media Association. She previously served as the President of the Bay Area Chapter, from 2019 – 2021.
Elizabeth is an expert in kids’ learning and development with a passion for family and interest-based education through media, technology, and hands-on experience. She is Founder and Principal of Learning Designs Consulting which provides education consulting, research, and writing in the areas of kids’ media and connected learning. She is particularly passionate about STEAM learning and creativity, family science, and the role that stories play in children’s social-emotional development.
Before launching her own consultancy, Elizabeth spent 20+ years in direct service education work. She has worked in education non-profits, as a middle and high school teacher, a principal, an executive at a children’s museum, and the director of a research group focused on creativity development in children 0-8. She holds a doctorate in education.
Elizabeth has two school-aged kids. She lives in San Francisco with her family and her own Clifford, a 105 pound hound named Hugo. During the pandemic, she has especially appreciated hiking with friends and family, watching Marvel movies and shows with her kids, and listening to insightful interviews on the Ezra Klein show.
