Elizabeth Rood is an education expert, with extensive background in both formal and informal learning, and an evangelist for closing opportunity gaps by providing young children from low-income communities with high-quality family learning experiences. She is Founder and Principal of Learning Designs Consulting, a strategy firm supporting education-leaning companies and organizations with capacity-building, program and product development, and research and evaluation. She particularly enjoys working with museums, libraries, non-profits, and social ventures and has specific expertise in STEM learning, creativity development, deeper learning, and 21st century skills.
Prior to launching her own consulting business, Elizabeth served as Vice President of Education Strategy and Director of the Center for Childhood Creativity at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. In this capacity, she oversaw programs at the iconic children’s museum, led research publications and initiatives, and managed advisory services with outside organizations seeking the museum’s expertise in early learning.
Elizabeth also has more than a decade of school-based experience, as both a teacher and school administrator, serving low-income families of color. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Mills College.
With her two elementary-aged children, partner, and dog, Elizabeth calls the beautiful city of San Francisco home. She is thrilled to lead the newly founded CMA-Bay Area chapter, contributing her background as an entrepreneurial education leader as well as the unique perspective of the Bay Area with its tech economy, strong academic partners, and progressive values!
